One thing that did come easy about moving to a new school one week before the first day, is that the slate was wiped clean and new rountines could be established. We bike to school, (1.4 miles of sidewalks!!!!) and we pack healthy lunches right after we finish eating dinner. I know this will pay off bigtime!!!

I start with a bag of dry pinto or pink beans - the kids like pink beans better - and I have a whole recipe, but I put in salsa, green chiles, onion and cumin. I make them in my pressure cooker so all those yummy flavors stay in. My kids won't do canned refried beans, but homemade is a different story - and we have similarly aged kiddos. Sloan is in 1st and Dodge is in Pre-K. Let me know if you want it and I will send you the whole recipe.

Refried beans are awesome, but I can't get my kids to eat them even on Taco night. What do you put in them to make them yummy?

Your school starts EARLY! My girl doesn't go back until 09/09. Our schedules don't vary much between summer and the school year since both my husband and I work full time. The main difference is going to be getting her back to her "correct" bedtime and re-enforcing the school year rule of no DVDs on school nights. Oh, and I'll have to start making lunches again. Sigh. I live for Wednesday, which is pizza day at her small private school.

Thanks! We have a penchant for unusual names, my son's name is Dodge.

I fix my little people refried beans because their high in fiber/protein and beans stick with them all day. :) Plus, a big batch of refried beans doesn't take much work at all and is really cheap!
