Abuse is not only a physical thing. Women also need to understand that abuse can be verbal and emotional and that the scars and damage done in a verbally abusive relationship are as damaging to us and to our children. I stayed in a verbally/emotionally abusive relationship for a very long time 'because of the kids' I finally realized that they were being damaged emotionally whether they were the specific target of the abuse or not. And they were seeing a horrible model of relationship as well. It took almost 10 years to fight my way out of the story I'd begun to believe, and now that I'm out of the marriage nearly four years my kids are on their way to becoming whole people again. They've paid a very high price and are thankful every day that I finally had the courage to leave and create a safe place for them to finish growing up. angela Tracee-

Unfortunately, I stayed with him for 2 years. He had me convinced that I didn't deserve any better. I finally decided to get some self-worth and leave.
