They lasted 5 minutes. I used to bite my nails, then I smoked - so i know hand-to-mouth compulsions too. It drives her dad crazy though, so he's always looking for the right incentive. I tried this when I had custody of my granddaughter. She is now 14 and still bites her nails because shehasn't found the reason to quit. I no longer nag her about it because it isn't the worse habit you can have. Having been a cook and a pre-school teacher I personally have issue of hand in the mouth. But, what can you do.
