Good for you - let her wear what she wants. I had a mom who wanted to control what I wore, and I was an opinionated little kid, so we had MANY fights over clothes.

I would even put what I wanted to wear in a paper bag and change at school - usually into my patent leather church shoes instead of snow boots or into a dress instead of pants. I cared more about looking good than being warm!

I cried all the way to school on my fourth grade picture day because I hated what I was wearing. I think of it every time I see that photo (and I still hate the outfit).

Yes, Ainsley picks up on fashion. But, she does it in a completely unique way. If layering is in, she'll layer. But, not the way you might see it in a magazine.

She'll wear 10 headbands at once - but she looks great doing it. She loves wearing pants under dresses - it's too cold for just the dress.

I love to see little girls dressed like this. It means they are allowed to make their own decisions and choose what they like. I've always let my daughters choose their clothes (since they've been old enough). It's been very hard sometimes, especially going out in public. A side note: A mom with grown-up girls told me once that she did the same for her daughter, and later, while looking through a photo album, her daughter said, "How could you let me dress like THAT?!"
