Thank you Margaret.

I would purchase a copy ASAP! He definately will arm you with good advice, ways to deflect, ways to approach to get the best result.

Behavioral therapies to work try. Discipline and parenting that works for these types of boys, etc.

He cautions that "Asbergery" is a HUGE trend lately and is most often a very normal characteristic or developmental lag.

Good luck to your and your wonderful son.

thanks for your review, tracee--

My son is currently being evaluated at the elementary school--he's a kindergartener. He is considered intellectually gifted , and his intelligence manifests itself in ways that his teacher has been HEAVILY implying are symptoms of Aspergers Syndrome. Fortunately, others in the district argue against that implication (as do my hub and I).

I'm considering getting a copy, having read your review, to help arm me with the right language for future discussions about my boy's behaviour and progress in school.

As always, you ROCK, Tracee! Thanks! :)

Anxious to read this myself...It goes right along with the Packaging Boyhood posts I've been doing on Tuesdays for Shaping Youth. Haven't read this yet, but your last lines really resonate as I'm picking up "Why Boys Don't Talk & Why it Matters" about preventing socioemotional robots in child-rearing for a glimpse at the whole Mars/Venus thing...Thx for this, Tracee!

All super great points That Girl.

This was a great book.

Play Hard is really good medicine for all humans, in my opinion, definately for boys.

All this "helicopter parenting" is a trend that appears "safer" until you look at the high obesity rates and high medication rates and factor the long-term costs.
