I learned this interesting fact:

Most new couples are not making it to year 5.

My husband and I are in year 7 – so we’ve made it longer than most. Which surprised me and brought an odd sort of optimism.

Isn’t that sadly different and new? Previous generations in my family celebrated 30 and 50 year anniversaries.

I’m feeling optimistic about our chances today.

The group continues to this day, with new people joining. The group was ostensibly to discuss marriage issues, but it became more than that, a support system of friends. <br/><br/>So far, no one who's participated in the group for more than a year has divorced.
